Winter is Coming, and so is Season 6 of Game of Thrones, with mere hours to go until the season premiere I couldn’t resist picking up Revlon’s Super Lustrous Lip Stick Cream in Fire and Ice (shade #720). It shows how powerful a product’s name can be, because I’ll be damned if there’s a lip stick that sounds like George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire and it’s not in my make up bag.
And because I know you’re all excited too I picked up a second to give away, along with some Game of Thrones themed goodies- just head over to the SICW Facebook page, like the page, and like, comment or share the post to win. I’ll select a winner at random on the 9th of May, so make sure you enter!
Fire and Ice has been a staple shade at Revlon since it’s impressive launch in 1952. The shade is named Fire and Ice as it contains both warm and cool tones.
It’s easy to see how this product has been on the market for over sixty years.
The packaging is so simple and classic, and looks quite chic. It gives the appearance of a higher end brand. The one thing that instantly turns me off about bargain beauty products, even if they’re amazing, is when they look cheap and nasty in my make up bag, but there’s no chance of that here.
The highly pigmented Super Lustrous formula is creamy without being greasy or slippery, and provides a long lasting lip colour without being drying like I find a lot of red lipsticks are- particularly if they don’t have a glossy finish. I also haven’t had any problems with feathering, even though I wasn’t using a lip liner.
It’s a pretty full coverage colour, with one coat giving a really rich colour. You could blot and powder and apply a second layer for longevity, but I don’t really think it’s needed. I get it, you want your lipstick to stay put all day, but I think if you’re going to wear a bold red lip you need to be prepared for touch ups throughout the day
I found the texture of the lipstick to work well when applied with a brush for a more intense colour, or mixed with a balm for a sheerer, subtler daytime look
